We are looking for a full-time remote Sr. Backend (Golang) Engineer to join our Open Source Software Development team and help us to continue building Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM). You’ll predominantly be responsible for enabling all-new functionalities in our client/server PMM product using Golang.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build something from the ground up and integrate our existing Client <–> Server products with Cloud to deliver a new wave of services and functionalities to our users. The work is challenging, but that’s why it’s also fun and rewarding! Plus, our team is small, so you and your work will have a significant impact.

You will ✨

  • Develop scalable, high-volume, performant applications focused on simplicity and user delight
  • Produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration
  • Brainstorm with designers, architects and product managers to build and tweak functionalities
  • Participate in code and design reviews, teaching and learning from other engineers
  • Identify and uphold engineering best practices
  • Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity
  • Train, mentor, and support engineers

You’d be a great fit if you ❤️

  • Have 5+ years of commercial software development experience
  • Have 2+ years of commercial experience with Golang
  • Have experience with MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
  • Got commercial experience on cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or OpenShift)
  • Are comfortable with Linux (primary usage as a programmer)
  • Are familiar with version control systems (Git)
  • Got experience designing, building, and documenting APIs
  • Know asynchronous programming
  • Are a test-driven and test automation first advocate 
  • Are a team player first 
  • Have experience working in a distributed team environment
  • Are self-driven, responsible, and keen to learn and improve
  • Got good conversational and written English

Bonus points if you 🏆

  • Know other databases/data stores (Memcached, ClickHouse)
  • Have deep knowledge of security and encryption techniques for transmitting and storing sensitive data
  • Got experience with continuous deployment to cloud / virtualized environments (DevOps)
  • Got experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Have experience with Prometheus or VictoriaMetrics
  • Have a BS/MS/Ph.D. in an engineering field or equivalent experience
  • Got experience writing and maintaining unit tests
  • Got open-source development experience
